LES SOURCES
"Les Sources" is a beautiful riverside farmhouse sitting in over 6 acres on the banks of the Dordogne river, about 15km west of the historic town of Bergerac.
Consisting of a principal house with 5 double bedrooms and a separate 3 bedroom,
3 bathroom companion house known as "La Petite Source".
Built around 1750, in the traditional Perigordian style, both houses have been sympathetically renovated as our secret escape in France which we endeavour to visit regularly with family and friends. We now also offer it as a comfortable and luxurious holiday home, ideally situated to help you enjoy the very best of both the Dordogne valley and the Bordeaux wine region.
You can either book " La Petite Source" and in addition, it is also possible to book the two properties together offering accommodation for up to 18 people. Please note we do not let the two properties to two different parties at the same time, making "Les Source" your exclusive holiday location.
"LA PETITE SOURCE"
"La Petite Source" is our fully self-contained three bedroom, three bathroom, holiday cottage which makes an ideal holiday home for 6 guests plus. Constructed in traditional warm Perigordian stone with exposed beams and stone walls, it is both elegant and authentic. It was completely refurbished in 2016 to provide a luxurious holiday home.
The cottage consists of a large modern fully equipped kitchen designed to meet the needs of the most enthusiastic gourmet cook with a large range cooker, as well as a spacious open plan living area with a huge oak dining table that can seat 10 or more. There is an additional comfortable sitting room with large fireplace and log burner. The cottage also has a separate utility room with washing machine, ice maker, boiler and storage.
Accommodation is provided by a large ground floor bedroom with a super king four poster bed
and separate shower and toilet. There are two stylish double bedrooms on the first floor, both with en-suite bathrooms. Bedroom 3 has a king size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. Bedroom 2 has a double bed as well as an additional single bed and an en-suite bathroom with a bath rather than a shower.
The cottage has its own south facing covered patio area overlooking the river for alfresco dining and relaxing. The cottage has ample parking and plenty of garden space.

THE POOL
"Les Sources" lies secluded at the end of a 200 metre long driveway from the road. The principal house is a spacious traditional farm house built around 1730 and modernised over the years. It offers a very comfortable home with 5 double bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. There are
a number of reception rooms as well as external terraces and a covered eating area.
The house is traditionally decorated with many exposed timbers and stone walls. We do not rent the house separately and normally reserve it for family and friends, however we will offer it as part of a large booking if a party wishes to rent both properties together .
Both the main house and "La Petite Source" are supplied with fresh water from historic underground wells, hence the name. However to ensure a good supply in the very hottest part of the year we have an additional link to mains water as well.
THE POOL
Tucked away in its own secluded area surrounded by lawns and flower beds, "Les Sources" has a wonderful, exceptionally large heated swimming pool. At 16mtrs x 7mtrs, the pool is not one of those disappointing plunge pools you often find in private rentals. The pool will satisfy everyone in the family including the most enthusiastic swimmer who can stretch out and have a proper swim.
Heated by an air source heat pump, we try to keep the temperature in the summer around
29 degrees, subject to the prevailing weather conditions. The pool also runs on a salt water system keeping chlorine levels at their optimum. The pool has a 3ft shallow end with broad
entry steps and a safety edge around the perimeter as well as an alarm system.
The pool includes plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas as well as an elegant shaded terrace
with a dining table that seats 8+ guests and a bar and summer kitchen allowing you to prepare
and enjoy lunches and dinner by the pool. There are also plenty pool toys available for your use.

THE RIVER
The Dordogne is one of the great rivers of France and it makes a spectacular back drop to any stay at the house. "Les Sources" is situated right on the river facing south, with over 200 metres of private river bank. Although much is heavily wooded, there is direct access to a large, open
section of river bank from the garden via a set of steps.
Whether you want to try a bit of wild water swimming or simply want to sit back and enjoy its peaceful serenity and abundant wildlife, it is also permissible to fish subject to obtaining a permit from the local Tabac. During the summer there are a number of good canoeing places nearby or if you want something less strenuous, simply sit back and watch other people paddle by.
The river is fed from the Auvergne and although its low summer levels makes it fairly benign and shallow, there is a fairly constant 4 knot current which means that it is advisable to supervise any children. The river is a very special part of staying at Les Sources
